The Magic Cauldron Enchanted Brew

The Magic Cauldron Enchanted Brew review

The setting is a witch’s alchemy workshop full of bubbling potions and gemstones. Wins come from clusters of 5 or more matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically. Winning symbols disappear into the cauldron, new ones drop in, and the cascade continues as long as new clusters form.

The potion meter

Every 25 winning symbols collected in one cascade sequence lights up one of five potions (125 symbols fill the meter). The first four are picked at random from: Befuddlement (turns a high-paying symbol into a low one, or the other way round), Invisibrew (removes all low-paying symbols and drops new ones), Enlarging Ale (creates a 3×3 or 4×4 mega symbol) and Balm of Transfiguration (turns all of one low-paying symbol into a high-paying one).

The fifth potion is the big one. It is either Potion of Darkness, where only high-paying symbols land for the rest of the sequence, or Unicorn Dust, which adds 3–4 unicorn wilds with multipliers that rise with each win, up to 20x. The meter resets when the cascade sequence ends.

Random wild features

Two features can strike at any time. Elixir Wild can add 4 to 8 wilds after a non-winning spin. Moon Seed marks positions on the grid, and a win of 5 or more symbols on marked spots creates two extra wilds.

No free spins

This is the most important thing to know before you play: there are no scatters, no free spins round, no bonus buy and no jackpot. Everything happens in the base game. Some players like that, because there is no long wait for a scatter. Others miss having a big bonus round to aim for.

How to play

• Set your stake (from 0.20 to 100 per spin at most casinos).
• Clusters of 5 or more matching symbols, touching horizontally or vertically, pay. The pay grows with cluster size.
• Each win triggers a cascade. Keep an eye on the potion meter, which charges as winning symbols are collected in one sequence.
• Elixir Wild and Moon Seed can trigger randomly on any spin.
• There is no free spins round to chase, so judge the game on how the base game plays in the demo.

The Magic Cauldron Enchanted Brew RTP

The headline RTP is 96.44%, the highest version. Pragmatic Play also offers casinos lower versions (sources list figures down to roughly 94.5%, and some list 95.5% as the default). Check the game’s info screen at your casino before playing for real money.

Pros and cons

What we like

• Original potion meter that rewards long cascade chains
• Unicorn Dust wilds with multipliers up to 20x
• Everything happens in the base game, with no waiting for scatters
• 5,000x maximum win

What could be better

• No free spins or bonus round
• The potion meter resets after every sequence
• Several RTP versions in circulation

Our verdict

Enchanted Brew is an unusual Pragmatic slot. It does without free spins and puts all its ideas into the cascades, and the potion meter works well when a long chain gets going. It is a good pick if you enjoy cluster games such as Reactoonz. If you need a free spins round to stay interested, Sweet Bonanza or Gates of Olympus will suit you better.
