Robin Hood Slot Review
To find out more about this much-loved game from Netent, read our Robin Hood slot machine review in full – you’ll soon be ready to round up the Merry Men and start spinning the reels.
Robin Hood Theme
This is hands down one of Netent’s best looking games. Ever. It’s been around for a few years now but not much out there that can touch it in terms of its appearance or soundtrack – or, in fact, with regards to its gameplay, though you’ll need to read our Robin Hood review in full to find out all about that. The reels are set against a beautiful, autumnal backdrop that transports to you Sherwood forest before you’ve even made a single spin. The leaves and blades of grass are blown around slightly by the wind, and this is typical of the level of detail employed by Netent’s visual design team.
The stock poker symbols have been given a stylish 13th century makeover, whilst the higher value symbols feature a suited-up knight, the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, 2 of Robin’s henchmen and the man himself in the Olde England equivalent of a green hoodie. There’s a lush, orchestral soundtrack in the background at all times, rising to a crescendo as you win bigger and bigger prizes to amplify the drama. Make no mistake: This is a full production piece, not a 5-minute diversion whilst you take a quick work break.
Betting Options
The minimum bet at the Robin Hood slot is $0.20 – low enough for most people, however some of the lowest spending players might look for something with a lower minimum bet. The most that can be bet at this online slot is $100 – not the highest we’ve ever seen, however more than high enough for most players.
Netent’s bet setting system means you can alter your bet amount without having to go to a separate screen, using the Bet Level and Coin Value buttons. Once you have set your bet size, you won’t have to do it again, as the game will remember the amount you’ve chosen for the duration of your play. You can, of course, alter it at any time, however.
Bonus Features
This is where the fun really starts. First up, it’s worth being aware that the correct name for this slot is in fact Robin Hood : Shifting Riches. There’s a good reason for this. Whenever you make a line win, all of the 5 reels will move from right to left, marching across the screen dropping one set away to the left whilst revealing another set on the right. This opens up lots of new ways to win, though this being a Netent game, there’s even more going on.
Firstly, each reel shift increases the multiplier for any subsequent line wins, with 5x being the highest multiplier. However, in the game you’re advised to keep an eye out for the money bag symbols. Whenever these appear, they’re held securely in a wooden chest for you. These remain in place for a whole year, so you’ve got ample time to return to the game and collect more whenever you’ve got time.
Once you’ve collected 4 bags in 1 chest, you’ll win 10 free spins. At this point, any money bags appearing on the reels will become wild after the reels shift. During free spins one of the cast of characters will be selected as an additional wild. You’ll win 5 more free spins when you get 2 Free Spins symbols on the reels during the feature, and 10 more free spins when you get 3 Free Spins symbols.
Robin Hood Maximum Win
Land the maximum line win of 5 Robin Hood symbols and you’ll get 1,000x your bet. At the maximum bet of $100, that’s a $100,000 prize, but don’t worry: You are not under any obligation to distribute it to those less fortunate than you. You could enhance this prize even more thanks to the multipliers found during the Shifting Reels feature.
Is Robin Hood Worth Playing and Who Should Play It?
Robin Hood from Netent is a fantastic game, and its unique Shifting Riches idea has never been executed to the same standard. It’s had so much effort put into it that it would be a shame not to at least give this game a try – even just to enjoy the incredible visuals. The high RTP also makes this a slot that you should try.
However, it’s not simple by any means, and any players seeking to commit to it will need to be prepared to play regularly for a long time, in order to benefit from the saved money bags. We’re not aware of many slots that save your progress in the way that this one does, and this gives you an idea of what to expect in terms of how lengthy a challenge it is. It’s a high volatility game, meaning it will appeal to those looking for large, yet infrequent wins.
