Tropicool Slot Review
Tony and Fiona proved to be such gracious hosts that we ended up spending many happy hours in their company, and came away with reams of information to write our Tropicool slot machine review with. We’ve included everything you could possibly need to know so that once you head off to the South Pole to join in the fun, you’ll be fully prepared to brave the sub-zero temperatures and return home from your session with some red-hot wins.
Tropicool Theme
Tropicool is played on a six-by-six grid rather than using traditional reels, and on closer inspection you’ll see that each piece of fruit used as a symbol is actually encased in an ice cube. It’s a feature-heavy game, so whilst it initially looks like something fairly frivolous there’s actually a lot to get stuck into. Generally speaking, it has the feel of some of the smartphone strategy games like Candy Crush or Bejewelled and could perhaps be considered a cousin to Play ‘N GO’s excellent Gemix game in terms of both visual design and complexity.
Betting Options
Play it as cool as possible and you’ll be at the lower end of the betting spectrum, which starts at just $0.20. Whilst the temperature in the Antarctic isn’t about to rise as you play, you will find that as your gaming sessions heat up, you’ll want to wager more, and with a maximum bet per spin of $100 there’s plenty of scope to defrost your bankroll and start aiming for some large wins.
Click the symbol bearing two stacks of coins and you’ll be given clear and easy instructions on how to alter your bet. It couldn’t be simpler and before you know it, you’ll be back to the main screen and spinning like crazy.
Bonus Features
Winning clusters of symbols don’t just give you a payout: They also trigger the Avalanche feature, which makes all clusters disappear and the symbols above them fall into their place, potentially leading to more wins. It’s similar to the Cascading Reels idea found in games like Gonzo’s Quest and Da Vinci Diamonds, and as far as we’re concerned it’s always a welcome addition to any slot. It made researching our Tropicool review an absolute pleasure and if you’ve never experienced it then this game is a great opportunity to give it a try.
Winning clusters also unfreeze the Feature Reel that sits above the main game, and any spaces on the grid made by avalanches will determine which features are activated by reference to the symbol on the Feature Reel that appears directly above. Standard wilds are easy enough to understand, substituting for all other symbols, whilst Locked Wilds stay in place for the next three spins. Multiplier Wilds increase the value of any clusters that use them by 2x to 5x, whilst Row Swaps replace all other standard symbols on the relevant row.
Land three or more ‘B’ symbols and you’ll trigger a bonus with 3, 4, 5 or 6 of them rewarding you with 10, 15, 20 or 25 spins respectively. At this point a couple of extra bonus symbols appear in the Feature Reel: The Extra Drops symbol increases the number of free spins you’re allowed to enjoy, whilst the Progressive Multiplier enhances your payouts with each win raising the multiplier figure by one.
Tropicool Maximum Win
There’s a colossal 1,000x your stake on offer if you land six of the highest-value symbols, which at the maximum $100 bet level means you’ll win a life-changing amount of $100,000. With a six-figure sum in your bank account you’ll be able to enjoy as many summery trips away as you can handle for the foreseeable future, with some serious spending money on top.
Is Tropicool Worth Playing and Who Should Play It?
Its wacky theming alone makes Tropicool a must-try game, though its instantly enjoyable grid format, Avalanche feature and Feature Reel all add up to something exceptional.
Whilst it may seem highly complex on first sight, don’t be alarmed by all the on-screen action. It’s easier to pick up than you might think and doesn’t require any tricky decision making on your part.
